The lost episode of Lost

All alone again...
Oh bugger, the beach was better after all.

...wait, oh no, there's a mysterious hatch
in the ice

First polarbears, then black stallions and
now...

OMG it's the others!

A Finnish musician once told me (ok, told the audience I was in) that there is more space per person in Finland than anywhere else in Europe. Looking at those first two photos, it's not hard to believe. So bleak, yet kind of magnificent and beautiful. And those metal cows are great. You take some wonderful photo's, Taiga.

Oh, wow! You've linked to Not 4'33". I'm flattered. I must get around to finding out how to do that.

Is everything in Finland wierd?

Thanks, OPC.
The photos are from Vuosaari, about 17 km from Helsinki downtown. I just managed to cut out all the other 560 000 inhabitants bouncing behind my back.

Well, no, it really is quite spacious here. 17 inhabitants per square kilometre in fact.

The cows are made by the artist Miina Äkkijyrkkä.

Btw. which musician?

Dave, it's just my eye(s) seeing everything bit oddly.

Actually the whole country is filled with polished Nokia engineers and McFeast burgers. I just try to avoid that vision.

>>Btw. which musician?<<

One of the guys from a band called Kiila. Their CD Silmät sulkaset is one of my favourites and their performance here was the best I've ever seen (video that doesn't quite do it justice here). I'm currently very much looking forward to seeing them play in Cambridge again on the 25th. If you go to the jukebox on Fonal Records (Lucy and Albert went there the other night) the ones with Finnish titles, like Kateet linnut, will be off that CD.

[hopes he hasn't written anything obscene in Finnish]

Just thought I should clarify that. Obviously you'll know which titles are Finnish, I just included one in case it meant anything interesting. I haven't a clue what any of it's about. Except that one of the songs on the CD has something to do with some big black birds, like crows or ravens, fighting in the sky. He didn't know the English word for them.

I like the sound of them actually very much.

Here's a very BabelFishy translation of the names on Silmät Sulkaset (Feathery eyes) cd:
1. rogues
2. sunsnow
3. rocks and sky
4. jealous birds
5. on Boxing Day opened the mountain
6. me-song
7. monastery of making
8. paused planets

Sorry, I didn't see this before. Thanks very much :) I hadn't expected a translation.
