T Fox meets Com-pa-ny

Today I had a pleasure to meet two brilliant young designers: Aamu Song and Johan Olin.
All I saw was so delightful, funny and witty that I'm still bit lost for words. That's why I'm doing something I haven't much done; borrowing photos and words straight from their web site.

Lazy Taiga presents: Com-pa-ny.

Takkiainen (a combination word that ties together the meanings of two Finnish words: takki, a coat, and takiainen, a bur )is a jacket for lonely or bored people. It is designed to help the wearer to get in contact with others.

Since we brush against each other every day as we move around in the city, we can use our clothes as a medium for meeting people and communicating with them.

The jacket is made out of Velcro strips of different widths that have been sewn together side by side to form alternating hook and pile stripes. When these materials touch each other, they grab onto each other. The lonely user can be happily connected with other loners simply by walking around in the jacket. Even babies can be attached to their parents.

These are great!

It got me thinking about chindogu (kind of a different thing, but anyway). Which then led me to this Finn's* inventions that don't exist.

*an English page. Some of it.

I want to wear the foothill shoes, with the safety skirt ad the chair man - now...

Oh, I'm so glad you liked them too. Aamu and Johan are having a small exhibition at us soon, so I'm really looking forward seeing more...

OPC, my absolute Chindogu-favourite is Hay Fever Hat.

Miss-cellany, there is also Chairwoman available. It might be better you don't use anything that comfortable (just in case if you'd like a small lying on a chair again)?

If we all wore them to clubs a) there would be no problem, as just a fashion statement b)bouncers could not get hold to throw us out, nor tip anyone out.

Do they do mass orders? :)

Oh, what a brilliant idea!
I suspect they haven't done any mass orders (yet) :)

I think certain Hollywood starlets/debutards/heiresses/pop princesses could do with a bulk order of saftey skirts.

Fucking brilliant. What a tonic!

Exactly what I needed around about now - how do you get hold of the taikkainian (sorry for dodgy sp) coats? As a newly single, bodily contact pretty damn high on the agenda.

Love the quirk - more of the same please.

B. you're absolutely right! And the colour suits pop princesses so well...

Fi, it is so brilliant. I'm not so sure if they have really actually sold anything. As far as I know Takkiainen was first exhibited in New York, there is a link on their web site, I think.
