I love those old magazines! I remember one article describing how to make a powered surfboard from an old lawnmower, and another advert for a paraffin-powered jet engine for a bicycle. It was a different world then: people made things instead of just buying it off ebay.
I wonder if that hat came off e-Bay? They don't make them like that any more.
I'm sewing up a bag as we speak.
