I was just slightly wondering... I was dyeing these eggs, some of them with onion and some of them with turmeric. Why is one of the eggs still white? It was soaking in the boiling hot turmeric water for ages, but it's still white. Is it an albino? If the egg would be a human, would it be having trouble with getting any tan?

I have edited one book for too long time during this week. Today I have been entertaining myself by doing nothing serious. I woke up at 10.30 am. Listened to Ratchet&Clank noise. Went for a walk with the dog. It didn't rain, which was surprising. Therefore I went to a shopping mall to buy stuff I don't need. I read magazines. I helped the older cub with his stamps. I watched Big Brother. After all that drama about nothing I have been watching funny animal videos.

Five and the Adventure of F- f-fl-flying

You know, I hate flying. I don't even have any fancy dreams about flying, because I hate it so much.
Exactly one week ago I punished myself, once again, and made a one-day-trip to Denmark. That's just utterly silly.
Why didn't I punish myself with a daytrip to Vantaa insted?

No, I had to see one exhibition, so I made four flights in one day just to do so.
Everything went on fine until we arrived at Gothenburg Landvetter International Airport,
which is Sweden’s second busiest air hub, as you can see from the photo.

Five minutes before the departure we were standing outside, staring at this:

Before I managed to say there's-asolutely-no-way-I'm-going-to-place-my-ass-in-that-tin, I was pulled inside and the plane was in the air.
I looked at the Chief Curator, who comforted me.
CC: I have flown with a similar plane at least twice before and it was just bloody awful. Well, it wasn't this windy, though.
The pilot: Welcome to the flight to Aarhus. It's going to be a mixed pleasure. The wind is heavy, but you might see some fabulous thunderstorms.

The hell I will, thought I and was right. I couldn't even watch out from the window, because I was so busy with the lovely flight attendant, whose name I have already
forgotten, but I will call her Tytte.

Tytte: Do you want some juice?
T Fox: Well, erm, yes, thank you.
Tytte: Here's a sandwich for you.
T Fox: Oh, thank you. Is there any meat in it?
Tytte: Oh, I've got a special carrot sandwich for you.
T Fox: Well, thank you.
Tytte: Any coffee? Tea?
T Fox: Coffee, thanks.
Tytte: Chocolate?
T Fox: Oh, well, I shouldn't but...
Tytte: Wine? White? Red?
T Fox: Yes please. White, please.

Tytte leaves me struggling with my meal. I am busy trying to keep all the stuff on the tray. The plane bounces and I pour some wine on my lap.
The plane bounces again and I try to find the parts of the sandwich, which are trying to hide inside my bra.
Pilot: We start landing now.
It's impossible to eat all that stuff when your flight lasts for half an hour. I try my best. I drink wine like a sponge. I eat sandwich like a mad squirrel.
Tytte: Want a packet of baby carrots?
T Fox: No thank you.
Tytte looks disappointed.
T Fox: Okay then, thanks.
Suddenly it feels like I was part of an Enid Blyton flight. All that food and so little time. Where's the ginger ale?

The plane lands. I forgot to hate flying. My humble thanks, British Airways.

Anyway, the city was brilliant. Last time I was in Berlin it was around year 1995 and I remember it was all grey and rainy. The streets were too wide and there was nothing to see, really.
Well, now... it was grey and rainy and the streets were bit too wide and the city was full of huge, shiny and new buildings, but there was definitely much to see. Except that the thing we went to see, the Berlin Biennial, was... erm... empty like Berlin in 1995. I wonder where the art was?
Well, because the Biennial was slightly shitty, we run through around 30 galleries instead, but really can't remember anything anymore, except Chiharu Shiota, whose work we'd love to see in Helsinki soon.

I also visited Deutsche Guggenheim, which was erm, bit tiny. Because it was like that I saw the huge Hamburger Bahnhof. To be honest having a golf cart would have been handy there. I also visited the Pregnant Oyster, Martin-Gropius-Bau and Neue Nationalgalerie collections, where I saw some wonderful works of Rebecca Horn of many. We also met lovely Ann-Sofi and visited Jeppe's wonderful studio.

I will always be in shame, because when I was so concentrated on finding the right U-bahn, I forgot to take my camera with me, when I met lovely Bowleserised and darling BiB, who were utterly fabulous and great talking about sauna, vodka and blogging and other essentials of life.

Wet Dog Wine, anyone?

Yep, why is it so? Why do you write something down and we write it up?

Actually that wasn't the topic for this post, but as I said it disappeared, almost like my entire day, which I spent by cleaning up, really properly. Whilst doing it I drank some wine, which was nice, but eventually I got so tipsy I messed everything up and missed the only fantastic happening this week, because I had to take a nap. Buggeringly enough I even got a ticket for this: Drawing Restraint 9. Well, I missed the Turing Machine Opera as well, but never mind, I've got tickets to Horton for tomorrow. Yay!

Actually now when I am here I might ask you a question as well. It troubled me when I was drinking that wine, which was something flowery Riesling from Alsace area: smooth, mellow and pleasantly round. What is the term for that wine character, the feeling when you have swallowed the wine and your mouth is filled with almost an oily or buttery aftertaste? No, not a taste, but a feeling. Anyone?

I tried to find it out, but found this clever wine aroma wheel instead.

Hmm.... I don't know how to use that exactly. Well, you could always play some kind of wheel of fortune game with that thing. After spinning the wheel you have to drink that kind of wine. Glass of skunk wine, here you are. Mmmm...

Few weeks ago I was asking on Facebook: "Denmark or Croatia?" Nobody answered and I decided Denmark it will be then. Actually I didn't, but the boys want to see Legoland and I think seeing Fyn and West-Jutland wouldn't harm me either. I have no idea where is Köge, which would probably make all Danish people very annoyed. Well, at least Ikea made them annoyed, naming their doormats after Danish villages and cities. Some Danes claimed that the Swedish names are reserved for the better products and that even Norwegian names can be found at least from the bed department, but the lesser products bear Danish names. "The stuff that goes on the floor is about as low as it gets."

Phew. The exhibition is ready and open for the visitors. If you visit Helsinki you might want to see why I have been so busy for the last 3½ months.

In the magazine Harriet (27) says she spends three hours a day by doing her make-up and hair.

I never forgot the day you came to us.
Someone didn't want you, put you and the other kittens inside the bag and left you on the highway, but you were lucky and saved by a stranger. You were already one year old when you arrived, but so tiny, so cute and named as a candy. I never forget your sweet chirrups.

You were always afraid of noise and traffic, but finally agreed to go out. When you were older, you always sat on my flower border, next to the hyssop. You didn't mind living with the big dog, who always tried to eat your food. You didn't mind living with two big tomcats, who ate your food. You didn't mind living with two little kids, who tried to eat your food and wanted to stroke your velvety fur. You loved the smell of their toothpaste.

When you were younger, you always slept on my pillow. Your tiny paws tickled my ears. You were like a furry, black night hat. I never forget the day the doctor said you're going to die and you might have either ten days or ten years left. You chose the latter one. During your last weeks you slept on my stomach for all the nights long. I never forget how warm you were. I never forget you, Nekku.

Today we have been living difficult times. It was year 1856 when Finns were forced to face same kind of serious problems earlier. The next year of the big dilemma is going to be 2160.

Normally on Shrove Tuesday we have to decide if we want to eat our laskiaispulla filled with strawberry jam instead of almond paste, but today, it was also Runeberg's Day. What a catastrophy! We had to decide if we want to eat Runeberg's tart instead and believe me, a pastry of almonds & rum filling and a topping of raspberry jam in a sugar ring is good.
During my hectic day I decided to eat them all. Later.

I just remembered I forgot to visit the shop. I missed the fabulous sugarparty!

Well, reading this made me feel bit better, sort of: King Adolf Frederick of Sweden died of digestion problems on February 12, 1771 after consuming a meal consisting of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, smoked herring and champagne, which was topped off by 14 servings of semla, served with bowls of hot milk. Semla was the king's favorite dessert.

Bollocks. It didn't make me feel any better. I want my buns and tarts!

Whilst having my typical lunch (cottage cheese and apples) I was lazily looking at a magazine. Suddenly I noticed a familiar face from the past. Back in -92 we lived in the same lovely old house in a small, probably not all that lovely village. I was in an art course, he studied something creative. How often we were all so busy, sitting in the noisy kitchen, drinking cheap wine and drawing doodles on the tablecloth. I loved that old house and all the people living in it. I remembered the long spring afternoons when we idled under the old trees and dreamed about our future. How young, talented and immortal we were.

He is a writer now, but even after two published books and one noticeable writers' prize he still says he's a dilettant, not a writer. What modestness, he's like Samuel Beckett, I sighed, and at the same time felt that cosy feeling of nothingness building up. I wanted to be an artist, but became an arty secretary. Well, one who writes legal argreements in foreign language, edits books and writes press releases, but still a secretary.

I looked at the next page. A dark photo of a gloomy looking artist and the text saying Nick Cave changed his life. "I listened to Henry's Dream inside a drab dormitory."

I admit I worked too much last week, well, I practically lived in the office and now I am ill.
It doesn't make me feel any better that I finally can get some rest, because I'm in pain. I can't even spend my days at the computer, doing nothing like usually. If this lasts long enough I might not need the Facebook Rehab group after all. Hmm, I wonder if that group helps, because it's in Facebook? Well anyway, it didn't make me feel any better when I read the illness I have is common with young, chubby, hairy-bottomed men. Damn. Could someone cheer me up a bit?

Yes, I know. I promised to be a better blogger-commentwriter this year. Have you seen me around? Well, yep, neither have I. Instead of being with my virtual and more fleshy friends, I have overworked by writing boring agreements in the office. My family don't recognize me anymore. Tumbleweeds pass by my deserted blog. My Facebook friends send me invitations, which I keep ignoring.
Friends... earlier I used to have just two kind of friends: friends and penpals.
Now I have one close friend, bunch of workfriends, hobbyfriends, gooddayfriends, goodoldfriends, blogfriends, flickrfriends, facebookfriends...
I guess in order to save time I have to start combining things.

I start announcing loudly (every hour) what I am doing and how I am feeling just at the moment.
I draw lousy graffitis on my friends' walls.
I send everyone letters saying "see what happens", but nothing happens.
I start buying expensive drinks to persons who I have seen once in the beginning of the 90s.
I ask seldom people on the street which colour and vegetable they are.
I bite people when I feel like to be a vampire again.
I troutslap and toiletpaper people at work.

Colleague: I don't want to go to the doctors alone.
T Fox: Why?
Colleague: Maybe she will say I will have only one day left. What shall I do then?
T Fox: Oh dear, is it something serious?
Colleague: I've got a flu.
T Fox: [sigh]
Colleague: Why wouldn't you come with me?
T Fox: Me? Go with you to the doctors?
Colleague: Yes. You could just sit there quietly. With your new lovely Barbapapa bag.

This year Santa came by car.
